Cacao is rich in many minerals, including iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, manganese, and copper. Magnesium is a mineral needed for over 300 different enzyme reactions in your body but lacking in many people’s diets. Cacao is also known to boost the mood. Additionally, cacao nibs are packed with potent plant compounds, including flavonoid antioxidants. Cacao have powerful anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to reduce numerous heart disease risk factors, such as high blood pressure and cholesterol levels in human studies. The powerful antioxidants concentrated in cacao may have anticancer properties.

One ounce (28 grams) of cacao  provides, 3 grams of protein, 15 grams of fat, 5 grams of fiber, 1 gram of sugar, 6% of the reference daily intake (RDI) iron,  16% or the RDI of magnesium, 9% of the RDI of zinc, 27% of the RDI of Manganese and 25 % of the RDI of copper.
