Did you know?

This is an air plant, from the genus Tillandsia. There are hundreds of species, and this one is most likely Tillandsia aeranthos.

Air plants are epiphytes, which means they grow on trees but don’t harm them. They simply anchor themselves to the bark and absorb water and nutrients from the air through tiny scales on their leaves.

What blew my mind today is that I’ve walked past this tree many times… but this is the first time I’ve ever seen it flowering.

And honestly, it stopped me in my tracks.

One of the beautiful side effects of studying herbalism is that you start observing plants differently. You become more curious, more attentive, and suddenly the world around you becomes a lot more alive and playful.

Today’s little plant discovery felt like a reminder of that.
